American Airlines has officially launched its centennial celebrations as part of the 100th anniversary of its founding. The airline traces its history back to its first mail flight between Chicago and St. Louis in 1926.
Throughout 2026, various passenger-focused innovations are planned. These include a special anniversary livery, cabin interior elements, digital platform integrations, and projects highlighting the company’s history. The commemorative livery will first be applied to Boeing 737 aircraft, with the design planned to be gradually rolled out across the rest of the fleet.
The anniversary theme will also be integrated into the company’s website, airport infrastructure, onboard systems, and in-flight entertainment content. In addition, limited-edition travel kits, special menus, and various service enhancements will be offered to passengers. Cards used within the AAdvantage loyalty program will also temporarily feature a special anniversary design.
American Airlines CEO Robert Isom stated that the 100th anniversary represents not a single milestone, but rather the company’s ability to adapt to changing conditions and continuously evolve over decades.
Isom also emphasized his pride in American Airlines being one of the limited number of airlines worldwide that have successfully reached a 100-year milestone.
